The Monterey Peninsula is an extraordinarily serene area to live and visit. Not only is the geographical location superb, but the local cultures are incredible as well. Situated atop Granite bedrock, the Monterey Peninsula extends into the Pacific Ocean with grace. The unbelievable beauty abounds and the air stays crisp and fresh year round. There are few locations in the world that compare with this region.
The white sand beaches of Carmel, the dynamic coastline of Big Sur, the exquisite styles of Pebble Beach, the jagged rocks along the coast in Pacific Grove and the history in Monterey make the compilation of cities ideal to visit or live.
The culture only adds perfection to this amazing place. The most well known city of the area is probably Monterey for its history. Although, Pebble Beach may not be far behind because of the substantial golf influence and media coverage. Carmel is quite possibly the quaintest town along the California coast while Pacific Grove has its Victorian homes and wonderful vintage downtown. Last but not least is Big Sur, which is just simply stunning and breathtaking.
From the moment you hit the Carmel Highlands, just south of Carmel and begin the descent south along the Big Sur Coast, you begin to understand the magic that this whole area holds. Like the way that the land falls off into the sea, from toothed rock cliffs to the crashing waves. Or the wonderful warm currents that come in the Spring and Fall to keep the plants and people happy and content. Then the summer fog rolls in and cools everything down just when the heat starts to becomes unbearable. The enchanting ways of nature never cease to amaze me, hence the reason why I love living here.
